Environmental permits

Environmental permits study the environmental impact of your planned project. There are three categories of permits, depending on the environmental impact of the activities in question.

Category 1

This permit is for the potentially most polluting activities, such as the production of pesticides.

Category 2

This category applies to activities that are not covered by categories 1 or 3. In practice, that includes activities that are deemed to be environmentally harmful.

Category 3 - Environmental declaration

Category 3 covers installations and activities that have a minor impact on people and the environment, such as small-scale agricultural installations, businesses that involve the handling of meat or fish, public swimming pools, bowling alleys, etc. A simplified declaration procedure is in place for these types of projects.

For each permit, the authorities will assess the potential environmental impact of the activity in question, taking into account factors such as noise, air and water pollution, waste disposal and the risk of major accidents.

These three types of permits are issued by the Municipal Executive, a senior planning officer or, for the "single permit", a planning officer.

If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to contact your local authority directly.
