Avoiding duplication

"Over-insurance" is more common than you may think, as a lot of umbrella policies cover a multitude of risks.

Unless policyholders thoroughly read all sections of the policy, they may take out specific insurance from a second insurer, without realising that they are already covered by the umbrella policy.

This is often the case with travel assistance, which is usually included in all-inclusive home protection packages. The same applies to family civil liability insurance.

That is why is it important to carefully read the policy before signing it. A summary of all the risks covered may also be useful to detect any duplications or gaps in your cover.

And you, what do you think about it?
