Theft insurance
Theft insurance is generally included with fire and contents insurance. |
Insurers stipulate certain measures for those wishing to take out this kind of insurance, such as the presence of locks on entrances to the property, locking up during all periods of absence and installing an alarm system if the amount insured exceeds a certain threshold.
The amount of the premium will also depend on the location of the dwelling, the type of construction (attached, detached, etc.), the availability of a garage, etc.
Disappearances, burglaries without evidence of a break-in or committed with the complicity of the insured party or a member of his/her family, and thefts from the communal areas of a block of flats are not indemnified.
It is advisable to take out separate insurance for items of particular value.
