Before you can build a house, swimming pool or veranda on your land, you must obtain the appropriate permit. Here's an overview of planning permission, subdivision permits and environmental permits, to help you understand the application procedures.

  • Planning application steps
The main stages of applying for planning permission are outlined here. There's also a practical guide to finding all the information you'll need.

  • Minor permits
Do you want to build a swimming pool, terrace or veranda? In Brussels, some types of building work don't require planning permission. Find the conditions here.

  • Planning reports
Planning reports give you information about the planning status of an existing property, but they also assess feasibility of a future building project.

  • Disclosure requirements
In Brussels, the COBAT makes it compulsory to include certain planning information in deeds of sale or property adverts. But there are no penalties yet.
