Description
Unique living on the water in the heart of Kortrijk
Living in the center of Kortrijk, but with water at your doorstep and a living experience that cannot be compared to a classic home. On the Guido Gezellepad, right on the old Leiearm, lies the Amadeus: a historic clipper from 1901 that beautifully combines character, space and contemporary comfort.
The ship was built in Moerdijk as a sailing clipper and converted into a houseboat in the late 1980s. With almost 30 meters in length, over 5 meters in width and approximately 115 m² of living space, it offers a surprising amount of space. The riveted steel hull, the wooden wheelhouse, the original hatch cover and numerous maritime details preserve the authentic character.
The spacious living space of approximately 45 m² is centrally located, where the salon, dining room and contemporary open kitchen flow into each other. The original wooden shutter cover is a beautiful historical accent here. The Amadeus also has four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The spacious master bedroom with dressing room is at the front, while the two separate cabins and the original captain's cabin at the back also have their own character. There is space at the front and back to enjoy life on the water outside.
The current owner deliberately chose to preserve the visual and historical identity, but at the same time invested considerably in modern techniques. For example, the electrical installation was completely renewed in 2025 and the ship has a high-quality Victron off-grid installation, 16 solar panels (6.6 kWp), 19.2 kWh home batteries and a recent Daikin heat pump installation for heating and cooling.
Its original function was also retained: the Amadeus is ready to go and equipped with a DAF 615 main engine, electric bow thruster and navigation equipment.
The berth is at least as exceptional: literally on the old Leiearm, in the middle of Kortrijk and with the city center at your feet. The concession for this special berth can be taken over by the buyer.
A unique piece of sailing heritage for those who want to combine authenticity, space and contemporary comfort in a truly exceptional location.
