Permeke becomes a new urban neighbourhood with 179 apartments
On a historic site in Antwerp, a new residential project is taking shape: Permeke. Once a well-known car garage, it is now being redeveloped into a sustainable, green urban neighbourhood with 179 contemporary apartments, commercial spaces, and a strong community focus.
Permeke combines living, shopping, and social interaction in one project. There will be a wide range of housing types: from compact studios to spacious family apartments with 1, 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms. Its central location on Jan Van Rijswijcklaan ensures excellent connections to the city, the A12, and public transport.
Greenery takes centre stage. Two-thirds of the outdoor space will be designed as a garden area, with great attention to biodiversity and smart water management. There will also be underground parking and bicycle storage, as well as a community centre that fosters connections within the neighbourhood.
With Permeke, Matexi is creating more than just a place to live. The project revitalises a familiar building with respect for its past and a clear vision for the future.
