The façade is composed of generous window openings of about 2.4 metres wide, alternated with slim pilasters of 70 cm, creating a dynamic, rhythmic pattern. Both the terraces and the window openings are integrated into this rhythm, giving the building a stately yet calm appearance in its surroundings.

In terms of materiality and volumetry the building is a model of refinement. The base of the building is designed with a rich, dark plinth that brings the grandeur of Belle Époque architecture into the neighbourhood. The detailed finishing and the rhythm of the pilasters form a solid base for the upper floors. The plinth also features a rounded corner, where a brasserie will be located to embellish the neighbourhood and add liveliness to the area.

The upper floors are characterised by a sculpted volume, with particular attention to the recessed storeys, cornices and generous terraces. The tapering of the floors towards the top gives the building an elegant and playful expression. The refinement of the design is further emphasised by the dark crown where the penthouses are situated.

Materials have been chosen in neutral tones, such as nuanced beige brick, combined with dark lintels. The windows are finished every two storeys with a gentle arch, which not only nods to the rich Belle Époque past but also emphasises the verticality of the building.

Residence Sables d’Or comprises 42 luxurious apartments, 3 commercial units, a bicycle storage room and private storage units for extra comfort and convenience. The building’s orientation is optimal, so most apartments offer a beautiful sea view, which together with the location on Blankenberge’s Zeedijk forms the perfect balance between the tranquillity of the sea and the vibrancy of the town.
