ANTWERP CENTER - Historic office space on the Schelde
In the monumental Hansahuis, inaugurated in 1903, one of the most important anchor points of the Scheldt quays, you will find this unique office.
The imposing building complex at the head of the block formed by Ernest Van Dijckkaai, Suikerrui and Kaasstraat, was built on behalf of Wilhelm Arnold von Mallinckrodt, after the hand of architect Joseph Hertogs. Hertogs is considered one of the most successful architects in Antwerp. His career was in the service of the wealthy, predominantly liberal mercantile bourgeoisie. The Hansahuis had to bear witness to the flourishing trading position of the Antwerp metropolis at the beginning of the 20th century. The corner towers, risalits, colossal order pilasters and columns, galleries and statues by Jef Lambeaux, were completely in line with the then prevailing prosperity mentality and ostentation. In 1981, the building was protected as a monument.
The office floor has various types of workspaces in its authenticity: beautiful reception area, waiting room, atmospheric salon with parquet floor, wooden panelling and a beautiful bar, meeting room, modern landscape offices....
Double opening doors connect the spaces, parquet floors continue, numerous authentic elements breathe history and give a special character to the building.
